Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is a three-star hotel in a beautiful and quiet street in the centre of Amsterdam, called the Nicolaas Witsenstraat. The 3 buildings in which the hotel is situated were built in 1906 and have a beautiful, historical character.
The hotel and the street are named after Nicolaes Witsen. He lived from 1641 up to 1717 and was a diplomat and writer. Moreover he was mayor of Amsterdam for 13 times from 1682 to 1706. Also, he was commander of the VOC and ambassador extraordinaire to the court in the United Kingdom. Nicolaes Witsen was an expert in the field of maritime construction. He wrote books that disclose a vivid recollection of the Dutch maritime construction in the 17th century.
Hotel Nicolaas Witsen has an ideal location. Within 300 myou can find the best-known market of Amsterdam, the Albert Cuyp-market, and the Heineken Museum. The Carré royal theatre is only 500 m from the hotel. The Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum and well-known entertainment-centres, such as the Leidseplein or Rembrandtplein, can be found less than 700 m from the hotel.
The hotel has 28 rooms, all of which can be reached by elevator. All rooms are non-smoking. There is a hotel bar where breakfast is served. After a busy day you can relax and enjoy a drink here as well.
We serve a continental breakfast in the morning from 07:15 to 10:30 am, which is consist of coffee and/or tea, orange juice, several types of bread, boiled egg, several types of meat, cheese, jam, honey, butter, peanut butter and chocolate spread.
