Presenting a picturesque palette of vivid green, golden yellow and azure blue, the tranquil town of Cala Ratjada is wrapped around the pleasant Punta de Capdepera peninsula. Natural splendour and iconic landmarks pepper the curving coastline and inland, ancient villages maintain antique traditions through food, dance and song. The silken sands and turquoise waters of Cala Ratjada’s blissful beaches are the island’s primary allure while the quaint harbours and charming street cafes act as a secondary attribute.
The Picturesque Punta
The town’s principal beach is San Moll, a vibrant and energetic stretch of silky sand and turquoise water that offers energetic water sports and enticing array of refreshments. Those seeking a more relaxing respite can enjoy the serene and sandy sanctuary of the resort’s more secretive beach, Cala Agulla, a more northerly beach.
A serene stroll through the island’s verdant woodland will bring wanderers to one of Cala Ratjada’s most picturesque points; perched upon the hilltop is the Punta de Capdepera Lighthouse, a symbolic structure that overlooks the charming harbours and beautiful bay.
An Outdoor Museum
Also residing upon this scenic summit is the Jardin Casa March, gorgeous gardens owned by an affluent Spanish family. Amidst the floral displays and manicured rockeries dwell sculptures by incredibly influential artists such as Henry Moore, Rodin and other seminal Spanish talents. Tours need to be booked in advanced with the resort’s accommodating tourist office.
Savour the Sea
Overlooking the shimmering surface of the warm, Mediterranean Sea, the Restaurante del Mar provides an idyllic location in which to enjoy some of Spain’s most sublime seafood.
