Hagen: A Modern Metropolis
Hagen is a buzzing modern metropolis propelled by the vibrant and vivacious culture of its prestigious university. Surrounded by glittering rivers, the city combines natural splendour with dynamic design to result in a fast-paced and fabulous holiday destination. A rich historical and industrial legacy is prevalent within the quaint historical houses and magnificent museums of the atmospheric Old Town.
The Mysteries of the Blatterhohle Cave
Delve into the subterranean depths of the Blatterhohle Cave to discover some of the oldest fossils ever to be discovered; dating back almost 2000 years, the cave’s inspiring interior houses evidence of Mesolithic residents.
Return to sea level in order to explore a more contemporary history in Hagen’s atmospheric Old Quarter, a charming centre in which cobbled streets compliment half-timbered houses and crumbling churches. The most spectacular feature is undoubtedly the Werdringen Castle, a stoic structure that exudes an air of ancient authority.
An Immersive and Interactive Experience
Hagen’s most amazing cultural allure is undoubtedly the Hagen Open Air Museum, an immersive and interactive experience that speaks eloquently of the city’s industrial traditions. Displays depict industrial facilities and are brought to life by costumed actors who demonstrate techniques and invite visitors to participate in the activities.
The Warm and Welcoming Brauhaus
The Brauhaus Restaurant is unanimously hailed as one of Hagem’s most exquisite eateries; a modern interior is dynamically decorated according to a theme inspired by the city’s historical heritage. Traditional food is beautifully presented and delivers handsomely on flavour; sample tender and crispy schnitzel topped with a fried egg and crispy French fries.
