Bad Saarow – Charming Holiday Destination on the Scharmützelsee
Holiday-makers not only come to Bad Saarow as a result of its Thermalsolequelle „thermal salt springs“ and the curative mud which is extracted locally. The officially recognised spa resort on the banks of the Scharmützelsees, also provides excellent conditions for water sports and for golf enthusiasts.
Less than One Hour from the Capital City
Bad Saarow is located approx. 70 km South East of Berlin. To get from Berlin-Schönefeld airport to Bad Saarow, you need 40 minutes. Water sports enthusiasts who arrive with their own boat, will reach the Sportmarina on the north banks of the Scharmützelsee via the Dahme and Storkow waters.
A Paradise for Holiday-Makers
The Saarow Therme is classed as one of biggest attractions of the spa resort. Visitors from near and far unwind in the 3 percent thermal salt water with a pleasant temperature of around 35 °C, they use the beautifully designed sauna area with its view of the lake or they threat themselves to a soothing massage. For those who wants to regenerate in a more active manner, you can choose between the Golf-Ressort A-Rosa, Abora-Kletterwald “Climbing Forest” or the water skiing course in the district of Petersdorf.
Walking in the Footsteps of Famous Guests
Saarow was originally a small village. That all changed when the Landesbank AG purchased Saarow at the start of the 20th Century and then they started building a colony of villas. In the golden 20´s, the VIP´s in Berlin discovered the charms of this small place. Max Schmeling and his wife Anny Ondra owned a house and a striking log cabin near to the beautiful station square and there is a plaque to commemorate this which was recovered in Bad Saarow by the Russian writer Maxim Gorki.
