Nice hotel and reasonable price // food quality was good.

Staff not welcoming as one would expect. They were helpful, but only when asked. Internet connection was extremely slow. Finally, the front facade of the hotel is awkward. When taxi dropped us off at the entrance, we had trouble finding the main door to enter the hotel, as you have to go down a flight of stairs and take an elevator to do so. Since there is no one to help, you must carry your luggage down the stairs yourself just to get to the elevator to go to the main lobby.

Physically, a beautiful modern building in a beautiful relaxing area of Rome. The rooms are ultra modern and beautifully designed. Breakfast staff was friendly and made a great presentation. Special coffees were available on request

Upon arriving at the hotel on 10/30, we were greeted by a rude, condescending, aloof desk clerk. My wifes comment was that he was having a bad day. He left for a few minutes and could be heard in the office yelling at someone. Upon his return, I asked about the weather and was told ´´like this´´. I asked what like this was and he responded with a disgusted tone, very strained, ´´like this´´ That was the extent of the conversation. Upon entering our clean beautiful room, we noticed that the only ammenities in the bathroom were soap, shampoo, and body wash. Also no pen or paper in the room. Having just spent 4 days at the Jolly Bellini in Catania, I knew that a hotel of this caliber should provide a few small thing like lotion, shower caps, conditioner, etc. These small things do change your overall opinion of a hotel. Although we did not need to use them, the Jolly Bellini had a comb, toothbrush and paste and shaving cream for its guests along with soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, body wash, and pen and paper. So I went to the desk, knowing who I would have to speak with and asked why these items available at the previous NH hotel were not available. He said that the hotel had new owners and they were trying to save energy. I expected him to say they were available upon request but no he squinted his face and shrugged his shoulders. On the second night we used our drinking glasses. We left for the day and upon returning found our room cleaned but with dirty glasses. A call and they were picked up and washed. We decided to use the hotels transfer service to the airport. We were told that the fare was 50 euros. When we got to to airport we were presented with a bill for 55 euros. We said we were told 50 euros and were told that it had been 55 for some time and the desk had made a mistake. None of the small things really altered our enjoyment of staying in the most beautiful city in the world. But it is the first time in many years of world travel that I did not feel welcome and comfortable in a hotel. It was especially troubling having just left a well managed, clean hotel with a warm, competent staff at all levels at the Jolly Bellini. There we enjoyed all the services the hotel offered, the bar, the wonderful restaurant, etc and was treated like royalty. A very pleasant stay. This was in contrast to feeling unwelcome and couldn't wait to leave the hotel. What made this so unbelievable is that I have always been treated with great warmth and friendliness in Rome and have friends that I have met there that I continue to visit. Their advice, do not stay there and tell others. I do surveys for Frommers and will be adding my comments about the Hotel Jolly Vittorio Veneto. It appears that this hotel is poorly managed,if at all. Staff needs to be supervised and better hiring and training practices need to be implemented. Thank for listening
