Evaluations of Flannerys Hotel Galway
Staff were good and the hotel was fine
Eur122 for Room only for what I would class as an OK 3* I did not think it was good value for money.
The hotel is acceptable and the staff is really friendly.
The hotel is a bit far from Galway city center and its rooms are a bit old needing some renovation. Apparently they were not notified of my final booking via hotel.info, so my check-in took some time and different clarifications were needed.
The staff were as helpful as possible under the conditions of the hotel.
All the ´´non-smoking´´ rooms in the hotel have just been changed over, so they all still reek of cigarette smoke and all still have ash trays. None of the bedding, mattresses, or carpets have been shampooed to remove the smoke. Being allergic to cigarette smoke, this was a bit of an issue for me. The first room I was given, the door didn't lock from the outside and it was smokey. When I went to the desk, they pulled all the room keys in the hotel for people who hadn't yet checked in and walked me through the rooms personally. The second room they took me to also was horribly smokey. The third one is the room I ended up staying in. Although the room wasn't smokey, the bed itself was broken. Yes, the feet were higher than the head by about 6 inches. We slept backwards in the bed that night. The rooms were not very clean either. Because they ended up giving me someone else's room, that means some other poor souls ended up in the room with the door that didn't lock and in ´´non-smoking´´ rooms that were really smoking rooms. Also, they claim that the hotel is 1.5 km from the city center, but this is a total lie! It's at least 25 minutes walking at a brisk pace (almost jogging). The taxi ride is 9-10 euros into the city center and the bus stops running at 23:30.
The front desk staff was polite and cheerful
They recently converted an entire floor to non-smoking but didn't bother to clean the rooms or empty the ash trays. Also the first room they selected for us didn't lock. The room we ended up is was clean and didn't smell of smoke but the bed was broken and tilted toward the head. Also the 1.5 km to city center advertised on the web site is as the crow flys
ein hotel, das nicht in das system der best western hotels passt.
Curtains difficult to open/close.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Description of breakfast is way over-rated. Of course everyone has own perceptions // however, should list full ´´IRISH´´ breakfast instead of what's listed. Breakfast left ALOT to be desired. To explain my rating of ´´if I would recommend this hotel: Highly unlikely // only if they were elderly would I recommend this hotel. There was nothing for children to do in the hotel.
lovely spacious rooms with interesting big doubble bed
noises in bathroom
very efficinet dining room. When we were there water was not consumable anywhere in Galway city and hotel supplied all water needs. Homely.
lobby space limited and cold but extension under construction so will be addressed in future. Hotel is dated (circa 1990's).
