Evaluations of Congress Complex hotel
The building is old but the rooms are up to date with modern furnishings and plumbing. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space to put clothing away. Some of the staff speak English and were quite friendly. The room was cleaned well everyday and there were plenty of bathroom amenities such as shampoo, soap, and towels. There is no bath but an enclosed shower stall but it was fine. The TV is small but good, yet only shows local programming and there is no on demand programming. There is wireless internet access in the lobby and a desk top PC is in the lobby for guests to use. The food was excellent. The rooms and main entrance use a security key card which makes it is easy to leave and enter the hotel. Inside the hotel there were signs in English and Russian showing how to find the restaurant and rooms and reception area. The price was reasonable and they do accept credit cards.
The hotel is an old palace so it is not recognizable as a hotel. There is no sign in English or Russia saying ´´Congress Complex Hotel´´ so arrival can be confusing. The entrance was not clearly marked. One must enter through a small security room by the main gate. The security staff do not speak English. No one knew the name ´´Congress Complex Hotel´´. They call it the ´´Management Training Center´´. Breakfast is only served from 8 AM on and you must tell them what time you want breakfast. If you want lunch or supper you must also make a reservation time. The small refrigerator in the room is not stocked. If you buy something you want to keep cold you must turn on the refrigerator. It is also very noisy. The hotel has no facilities except for the restaurant and a small cafe near the reception area, which did not serve alcoholic drinks. I did not see a billiard room, indoor pool, or sauna as your description stated. There is no staff on the main desk early in the morning so if you must check out early you need to do it the night before.
