Evaluations of BEST WESTERN Nouvel Orléans Montparnasse
large bathroom, very clean
Internet access horrible, should not be listed for business travel. Elevator non-functioning- no one in a hurry to repair
Location Clean room
Elevator broken Steep Narrow Stairs Awful Service Small rooms
Good service and helpful advice
Bed linen was threadbare and paintwork chipped. Cracks and stains on walls and carpets suggesting a refurbishment was required.
This hotel is in a nice area, and is within easy walking distance of two train stations, one is right across the road, so getting around is really easy. There are many nice places to eat or buy fresh food, and the rooms are clean.
The rooms are very small. We stayed in a Suite with 2 rooms, and 3 beds, as we were travelling with our two older children. We had two single beds and a fold- out sofa lounge and barely enough room for our 4 suitcases. The toilet room was seriously tiny, but we had two showers and a bath which was ok. This hotel would be fine for two people, but any more and you should book two rooms. Its also on a main road and there are sirens going past constantly, but we were so tired at night that it didn't keep us awake.
Paris is a noisy city so heard a bit of traffic noise from hotel room but in no way did keep us or our 2 year old son, awake. Our room was spacious, especially for Paris. Having a little fridge in the room was great as we were able to buy food from the shop instead of always having to eat out.
No tea kettle in the room which would have been nice, but I think this is typical of Paris hotels.
The hotel is placed closed to a metro station which makes it very convenient to use specially since it is in zone one. The manager is very friendly and helpful. The staff try to help the guests a lot. A lot of amenities and stores around within walking distance. Very close to Catacombes to visit. Free internet is a lot of help.
The hotel is at the south end of zone one so it takes longer to get to tourist sites. The hotel team are not too flexible and by the book. Don`t expect favors and they will charge for everything. No business lounge with printing or computer needs.
I stayed three nights and selected a single-bed room because I intended to spend most of my time touring Paris. I picked BW-LNO for location and price. To my surprise, my room was well-organized, very clean and well-furnished, with complimentary WiFi. The staff all spoke English and made me feel like a welcomed guest. Breakfast was an additional charge, but it included a full range of options comparable to other moderately priced European hotels. I would definitely stay there again.
On my last night, a noisy family with children arrived on my floor. Because the children ran in the halls, I had difficulty with an early bedtime to catch my flight in the morning. But the noise dimmed magically around 10PM, either from hotel or parental intervention, I don't know which.
This hotel is in a nice location with restaurants, shopping, pharmacy, and post office within a block or two. The Mouton-Duvernet metro stop on Line 4 is the station across the street from the hotel(The Montparnasse metro station is a short cab ride away with luggage). It is a short metro ride to transfer to Line 1, which has the tourist sites. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful front desk staff, who are onsite 24 hours. Large, modern bath in room. Room was a good size with a king-sized bed and free internet.
I don't have any negatives about the hotel, but want to warn that if you take the metro from the airport or high-speed train station (Paris East (L'est))you will have to carry your luggage up and down a labyrinth of staircases to get to the trains and back to the street. There were no lifts or escalators on these lines. If you are physically challenged or have lots of heavy luggage, a taxi would be worth the cost.
It was a very quiet, clean hotel, and in front of a metro station that make you life easy visiting Paris, the staff were very friendly and polite.I will use this hotel again in my next visit to Paris.
Gute Lage, sehr schöne ausstattung (entspr. preisniveau), sehr guter Servive // Many thanks for the excellent service!
