One of the special
places in the restaurant scene in Frankfurt is the Tiger Gourmet-Restaurant at the Frankfurt
Varieté-Theater Tigerpalast in Heiligkreuzgasse . If you would like to enjoy an
evening where you not only treat your taste buds, then you must go to the Tigerpalast. Here you
get to see the urban and metropolitan side of Frankfurt.
Michelin-starred chef Andreas Kark, who arrived almost two years ago from Baden-Baden, rests his
team on Sunday and Monday. But then it’s all hands on, and like the stage show, the crew of the
Tiger Palace resaurant creates one culinairy firework after another.
To get the full benefit of this wonderful cooking, I recommend taking one of the three menus. If
you prefer vegetarian, you will get a real treat here. The star reastaurant in Frankfurt also has
an incredibly tasty vegan cuisine. Like all menus, the veganmenu is also in 4, 5 or 6
courses.
The kitchen is French but with an international touch, such as the flat iron German steak. The
Tiger Palace is still clearly number one in Frankfurt.
Classy Frankfurt –Where you don’t only eat well!
Three tips plus one for a classy evening in Mainhattan
Every city has its special places. Whoever wants to have a star experience in Frankfurt will not end
up with Handkäs and music. It is likely to be an acrobatic and music show in one of the narrowest
houses in Frankfurt, or reading a wine list of 200 wines. The door of one of
the narrowest houses in the city, „Seven Swans“ opens after a gentle pressure on
the bell. Our third tip for a
classy evening in Mainhattan is a very special experience at the Frankfurter Weinsinn
as it literally involves your senses. For this reason, the restaurant, situated exactly
on the border between the North and West End, takes a minimilistic approach; as you dine on wooden
tabels with no tablecloths there is nothing to detract you from the pleasures awaiting. The
Weinsinn spoils you of course with wonderful wines. Whether a Mosel, or a strong Pinot Noir from
Germany, the wine list produces almost everything that a gourmet heart desires.
It is not only the kitchen staff or the very refined way in which the food is cooked with regional
products, it is also the location. Here you have the opportunity to sit on one of the most
incredible terraces of the city and look at the starry sky of an idyllic, beautiful summer‘s
night. Before you is a bubbly glass of champagne, behind you, separated by a glass door, the
kitchen staff prepare your meal. And nowhere is dinner more special then here, overlooking the
city skyline, and because you and your three guests have the terrace exclusively to
yourselves!
The seats in the main restaurant are no less spectacular, but these four chairs are amongst the
most sought after in the city. Enjoy it.
Most of the time I prefer the menus instead of “stuffing” myself à la carte. The great
cuisine that is served from Tuesday to Saturday at Fürstenbergerstrasse 179 is almost too good for
that.
Insider-Tip: In Frankfurt they like their sweets after the main course, whether in the star restaurant or in an “Äbbelwoi” cafe. Make sure you have some space for a dessert: my little Frankfurt highlights are the strawberries with a pot cream and Basil ice cream. Find out where to get this speciality. I promise you this, it will be a taste experience you have never had before.
When the evening draws to a close, the dessert is eaten, but the urge for a classy Frankfurt evening is still not satisfied, order a limousine and drive to Jimmys Bar. For me, the piano bar in the Hessischen Hof opposite the Mess is still one of the places that defines Frankfurt, which even though it is a relatively small Metropolis, has an international flair just like London, Berlin or Paris.
