Located in the centre of Takayama Historic District, Ryokan Tanabe 旅館田邊 is one of the most historical ryokans in the city. It features Japanese-style rooms and free WiFi in all areas. Guests can request relaxing massage treatments or soak in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths, which are made of rocks and cypress wood. Tanabe Ryokan is a 5-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and a 10-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station. It is a 15-minute bus ride from Hida No Sato Folk Village and a 45-minute drive away from Shirakawago. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Japanese futon bedding. A TV, fridge, and a safety box are included in each. The en suite bathroom includes a bath. Free coffee is served at the lobby, and a common lounge with an Irori hearth is available for guests. A traditional multi-course meal is served for dinner, and a Japanese set menu is available for breakfast. Meals are served in the guests’ rooms. Children 3 to 17 years old are charged full adult prices for their stays. Please select the correct occupancy upon making a reservation. The hotel has a curfew at 00:00 midnight. Guests cannot enter or leave the hotel after this time. Dinner is served at 18:00, or 18:30 or 19:00. Breakfast is served at 07:00, 07:30 or 08:00. Guests must request meal time upon check-in. Guests with a breakfast only meal plan who want to eat dinner at the hotel must make a reservation in advance. Guests with a tattoo may not be permitted to enter public bathing areas and other public facilities.
