The world's oldest hotel according to Guinness in 1996 (though currently other hotel re-registered Guinness), Hoshi Ryokan was established in 718 and has been operated by 47 generations of the same family. It offers hot springs and traditional dishes. It is a 5-minute walk to Osshobe Park. Rooms at Hoshi have a tatami floor and Japanese-style futon bedding. The wide windows look out on peaceful greenery. All rooms have a TV, green tea and an en-suite bathroom with bath. Nata Temple is a 10-minute drive from the hotel. JR Kaga-Onsen Train Station is a 20-minute drive away and free shuttle is available by reservation only. Guests can relax with a massage, enjoy the sauna or sing karaoke.
