Evaluations of Thon Hotel Orion
Hotel situated in the centre, very close to Bryggen. Staff is very friendly. Free coffee and tea in the lobby. Breakfast included in the price. Breakfast was Ok.
The hotel description says it is renovated in 2009, however our room was not renovated yet. There were several tiles broken in the bathroom and the shower was not working properly. The price is pretty high for the quality, however it the cheapest hotel in Bergen.
Excellent position, on one side you have Bryggen and on the other the Fortress with its park. In the common area near the reception there is a machine where you can do tea and coffee. Great idea! You just sit there, near the chemeny drinking something hot :-) The hotel is a very nice 2-3 stars hotel, and one of the cheapest in Bergen.
Please renew the rooms! The room was big (with a very small balcony) and clean, but the furniture (especially in the bathroom!) was really old..... In Norway everything is expensive!!!
TV did not work properly, changed room without any hassle
shower did not produce warm water due to renovations. It was on a small sign at reception, but even when running 10 minutes never went higher than ´´not cold´´.
Clean, good location
Taking into account the general level of hotel prices in Bergen - a very nice deal. This Thon hotel is very central, Brygge and Fisketorget are just a few paces away. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean if a bit old. Nice view. Free wireless internet is provided through giving out telenor 24h cards, which can be used not only at the hotel but anywhere in Bergen for 24 hours after the first activation.
The room was very small.
Proximty to Bergen historic sites
Not as nice and clean as we had expected.
Rooms too hot - windows would not open.
Staff were helpful, location was pretty good but a bit away from restaurants etc especially for a female travelling alone this was a hinderance.
My room 264 had damaged furniture ie door of minibar broken and hanging off, stool under desk broken, room very cold, bathroom totally inadequate more in line with cheap student accommodation. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends as there was no food available, not even tea/coffee making facilities in the room.Prices were extravagant compared to Irish prices in all areas ie accommodation, taxi, food and souveniers.
Rooms are small.
