Sinsheim – in the Heart of the Kraichgau and Near the Neckar Valley

The large district town of Sinsheim which is located in the centre of Kraichgau, and with its 35,000 inhabitants, belongs to the Rhine-Neckar district and it lies approx. 22 km South East of Heidelberg and 28 km North West of Heilbronn. Sinsheim is well-known for miles around for its car and technology museum and also for being an industry and trade fair location. The landmark of the city is the Burg Steinsberg, “Steinsberg Castle”.

Ideal Transport Connections

Sinsheim has three junctions on the A 6 and it is also has a trans-regional connection to the most important cities in North Western Baden Württemberg via the main roads B 39, B 45 and B 292. The railway station in Sinsheim is served by the federal railway with the route Heidelberg-Heilbronn (Elsenztalbahn). Furthermore, it is also served by the urban train (S-Bahn) line 5 (Heidelberg-Eppingen). The nearest airport is the Karlsruhe/Baden Baden airport in Rheinmünster and this can be reached in 50 minutes by car.

The visitor magnet for Sinsheim is the Auto- und Technikmuseum „Car and Technology Museum“ with its unique exhibits in the areas of aeronautics and automotive technology. It is the supersonic passenger aircraft Concord and the Tupolew Tu-144 that fascinate the public.

The Burg Steinsberg which is surrounded by vineyards in the district of Weiler with its striking, octagonal Castle Keep and its impressive inner courtyard, is the landmark of Sinsheim. Here castle festivals and medieval events as well as jazz concerts take place. The partly restored Hill Castle was first mentioned in records in the 12th Century.
