Evaluations of Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka
1. Good hotel and quality/price ratio except some bad points mentioned below 2. Good location and service 3. The quality of the room and its amentities appeared to be higher than expectations
Two bad features (which, as I have discovered, are present in other Japanese hotels of the same level) - but those are not hotels' discouraging features (each country has its own traditions and understanding which is good and which is bad), but in most the travel sight misleading. Those, say, national specific should be mentioned on tourist sight - not to mislead those who (like me) expect one thing from the sight's description of the hotel, but found something unexpected. Those two bad (from my point of view) are the following: 1. All swimming pools are for extra price. It is not so big, but from my European point of view, swimming pool in the hotel should be free of charge for the guests. Which is much worse - those swimming pools are closed too early (from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm). I think those local managers could not ralise that most of the guests have business or leisure tourist schedules for the whole day and usually have late dinner. After that it is natural to with to have a relaxing dip in the swimming pool before go to bed - when else to use it? 2. The same with breakfasts. They are usually (in all three hotels in Tokyo and Osaka in my case) given for extra fee and costs unbelievably expensive - up to 30 US $! Sometimes on the sight where I have booked those hotels there were mentions of ´´soom only´´, but in all three my cases there were no such commentaries - so I should expect the breakfast is included. Actually in Japan it is not big problem - you may have breakfast on every corner for $5-10, but I prefer to choose hotel knowing the info prices - for what and how much I would pay. Moreover, some dinners have been closed at 9.30 pm (anf it means that kitchen is closed at 9.00 pm) - which I think is also too early.
For this net special price, I think it was value for money. But not at the full rack rate (see below regarding noise reduction) ... Also the location of the hotel was somewhat isolated for the average tourist.
I was disappointed by the poor sound insulation. we could clearly hear the people in the neighbouring rooms.
