A Small Holiday Resort in the North of England
Scarborough is a holiday resort located on the North coast of Yorkshire. The town itself is moderately sized but enjoys the throngs of tourists that pour through its gates every Summer in search of a good old fashioned beach holiday in one of the many guest houses, camping sites or mobile homes located along the coastline.
The budget priced accommodation makes Scarborough a popular destination amongst families seeking a budget holiday. Its fair to say that the weather can be somewhat unpredictable and is often rather windy and certainly cooler than other popular holiday destinations on the Continent.
Fresh Air and Bracing Seaside Walks
The town is located on the coast in one of the most picturesque counties in England and as such offers views of a vast coastline which also includes the ruins of Scarborough castle perched atop the edge of the rocky cliffs. The castle dates back to 11th Century and spans both the North side and south side of the bay.
The promenade which runs along the coastline is lovely in the Summer months and also forms a popular venue for joggers and dog walkers. The bracing fresh air that blows from the North Sea can become addictive especially for those who love the outdoor life.
There is an impressive model railway (miniature version) that runs from Peasholm Park through Northstead manor Gardens to the Seal Life Centre at Scalby Mills.
A Perfect Weekend Venue on a Budget
The town of Scarborough is best enjoyed in groups and couples. There are many lively bars along the beachfront and some serve food and drinks at prices that are the cheapest in the country. So if you are on a budget and fancy a short weekend break with a loved one or a group of friends then you should definitely head for this town.
