Evaluations of Scandic Bergen City
The hotel was under som kind of reconstruction and the lobby was a construction site. The rooms was from my perspective also in cue for renovation. I think that a hotel chain like Scandic need to be more careful with their brand.
room temperature can not be adjusted from the room. Every time, you need to increase or decrease the temp, you have to call the reception and they adjust for you from their computer!!!!. There was no electric kettle and coffee provision in the room. Every time, you need acoffee, you have to go down to the lobby and get it from the machine!!!. Room has no wardrobe, just a place to hang your clothese, really untidy.
City Center :-)
in the centre of town
parking far away, rooms are stifling hot!!! (practically no ventilation and no aircon), window view of apartments very close by (privacy low), very noise indeed (from outside). I would not recommend this hotel.
Focus on environmently friendly stay is good
The rooms were clean, hotel was accessible from the city. The new refurbished block is more inviting than the hotel block undergoing extensive work at present. A reasonable experience to see Bergen for adults.
Very noisy hotel next to a cinema, shouting and vehicle noise until 0200-0300 on both mornings of our stay on 29th Feb and 1st March 2008. Our 6th floor Queen double was not offered at first although pre-requested. Would advise against staying in the older block undergoing renovation as the entire external front and sides of the building are surrounded with scaffolding and green protective screen. Although we were in re-furbished block the child safety features normally present in all rooms including family rooms appeared to be absent. i.e. windows can open without proper restriction. Fridge not working properly, met with response by Reception that some of them are faulty - no attempt to fix! Very much a transient conference type hotel, not recommended for families, very impersonal.
Hotel consists of 3 buildings. I've booked 3 rooms and all of them were in 3 different buildings.
