Clean rooms and warm. The room had its own iron and ironing board which was a bonus.

Very noisy while trying to sleep. I could hear the lift and what can only be described as the heating system starting early morning. Not very relaxing.

Even though hadn't passed our booking on to the hotel, so that they were not expecting us, they still found us a room when I showed them the confirmation email. (Apparently this wasn't the first time had done this to them). Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The décor was refreshingly different from your typical chain hotel or more modern boutique hotel (more so in the common areas than the bedroom), without seeming outdated or faded. There was a good selection of both hot and cold food available in the breakfast, although the hot food was better executed than the cold.

Staff were inclined to indulge other guests in their belief that the reception was also a tourist information office. Part of me was charmed that they were prepared to take the time and trouble to help their customers have the best stay possible, but there was also part of me that somewhat resented having to wait for five or ten minutes on two occasions, once when I had located the confirmation email and was anxiously waiting to show it to a receptionist not yet knowing whether they would find us a room despite not having been told to expect us, and once when we were wanting to purchase breakfast and hadn't left ourselves quite enough time before the train we wanted to catch not to be at all in a hurry.
