Evaluations of Rendezvous
Our stay was a for an overnight stop for a wedding held nearby. Room was of good size with comfy bed. Shower was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful and managed to book us in slightly earlier that check in.
Bathroom spotless and very clean and looks like it had been recently completed . Had a Bath/Shower installed and was perfect for a soak after walking all day . Bed looked new and was big. The large headboard gave a sense of opulence to that area of the room . Breakfast was well presented and had enough variety in the selection for most tastes . The open buffet allowed those who like to gorge plenty of opportunity to fill up on their favourites . .. Service was excellent and a request for more toast met with a beaming smile and was provided very quickly . The Managing director happened to pass our table and asked how everything was ......I think our glowing report on breakfast and our stay made his day and was just what he was expecting . The fact that he took time to ask and was happy to spend time fact finding with his clients made the stay even better knowing there was a direct opportunity to gripe at the man at the top and that he actually appeared to care .
only 2 gripes Had a large watermark in the ceiling of the room , obviously a leak at sometime which although I wasn't bothered may have dampened some clients view of the décor and standard of the room . A lick of paint would see that right ! Heating ......the rooms and certain areas of the hotel were very warm ... Although I wasn't too bothered , I did leave the window open during my stay and slept without the need for the quilt . Others from my party, that were in other rooms , also mentioned the heat and some even complained as they were uncomfortable with it .
The room and hotel was to warm. I was in the attic and there was no air from the windows. Having them open also let the light in as the blinds didn't cover these.
The Hotel was about a 20 min walk from the town centre, which was good, you could either walk the canal path or walk along the road path. The canal was nice but the path was muddy in areas so you need to have flat shoes. The room was quiet and clean with sliding doors. I got a good price by booking early and probably could have upgraded if i had asked. Staff were polite and efficient but did not sell the hotel by offering any extra pleasantries which would have added to the stay. Plenty of parking spaces, upstairs seating are was lovely
The room looked out onto the wall of the canal and was below the level of the canal, so even though there were sliding doors, it would have been nice to have a small seating area or possibly some flower tubs to make it worth going outside. The front of the hotel seemed to be in brighter decorative style than the corridor our room was on. Didn't like the colour choices in corridor and room, mustard and navy are not the most appealing, but that's my own preference, the potpourri smell in the hallway was too strong for my liking. Black paintings and dark walls seemed a bit gloomy, maybe some Skipton pictures would have been more interesting. We didn't try the meals or swimming pool as we were only visiting for a short stay and went into town. Calico jacks was good choice for a meal
the leisure centre was really relaxing ,the cooked breakfast was good .great location
rude receptionist not a warm Yorkshire welcome on arrival. had to wait for glasses to be washed at the bar in the evening , had the same problem at breakfast time cups & saucers chipped & stained can t believe I paid to stay here.a lot of traffic noise too.
This was my fourth stay in the Rendezvous Hotel and it is better than ever. Many of the rooms have been upgraded and the hotel is more welcoming than ever. The first time I stayed there there was a smell of stale tobacco in the corridors. With the smoking ban that has now disappeared. Our whole visit was a real pleasure and I would recommend the Rendezvous to anyone planning a stay in a beautiful part of the country. (My home town that is!) We were delighted to find that we had been given one of the executive suites as a free upgrade and loved the room.
I would have preferred to be offered a bed and breakfast rate rather than room only but that's only a minor niggle as the receptionist told us the breakfast prices.
Hotel very good, only stayed room only.Had to confirm booking beforehand as I had 4 rooms booked.Staff very helpfull, would definitly stay again.
All the staff we came in contact with were extremely helpful, other members of staff had friendly smiles when passing. The first room allocated on our arrival had an aroma of stale cigarette smoke, due to the location of the room to the outside smoking area, we immediately contacted Hospitality/Reception and were re-allocated another room without any hesitation. The member of staff on duty mentioned that the matter would be related to house-keeping. The dining room and bar staff were friendly and efficient, most welcoming. The breakfast choices were just right. What a great idea locating a Pub on site.
We were not too keen on the piped music in the corridor outside the bedrooms. If all bathrooms are similar, a towel rail for the hand towel, by the sink/vanity unit would be an added bonus.
