February 2016

The place is unique, with a country pub feel (the main building dates back really far 1100s). The rooms are stylised and quite modern but fit with the ambience. The food is expensive, but very high quality - beyond gastro pub - and some of the ingredients are grown right there

I tend to be put in one of the newer rooms - in far less characterful parts of the estate. These rooms tend to be small, dark and not well kept. The last room I stayed in had stains on the tables and a burnt ironing board. The bathroom was stylish but is starting to look a bit tired (e.g. the floor in the shower is peeling). The Wifi in my connected but went at an unusable snail's pace - about 1k/sec // and there's no good mobile tower you can use instead...

I ended up staying in Stoke Place

I never ended up staying here as the rooms were fully booked. The Hotel did not inform me of this until my arrival very late at night and told me they had arranged for me to stay in one of their other Hotels namely Stoke Place. I have previously stayed at Ye Olde Bell, but will try to avoid doing so in future as alhtough Stoke Place was nice to stay at it is a much longer Taxi ride for me and quite frankly the food for the price there left a lot to be desired. Regards, Nicole Krost
