Oberstaufen is comprised of three municipal districts. First there is the district of Oberstaufen then both districts Thalkirchdorf and Steibis/Aach. Steibis/Aach is the most Southern district. The borders thus extend from Weißachtal to Aach via Hagspiel, Schindelberg and Steibis up to the Alpine region. Before the First World War it was a farm, today it is tourism that is growing in importance here.

It is also a successor of the medieval abbey church of the Staufen. Between 1859 and 1863, this church was erected. The clock tower is much older, its foundation walls are said to date back to the 13th Century. The tower is 65 metres high and it is the tallest building in the area. The church in itself is the oldest building in Oberstaufen. The inner room of the church is well worth seeing and in which paintings decorate the ceiling. Several sculptors left their works here, the inner room is adorned with various sculptures.
