Evaluations of Novotel Beijing Xin Qiao
The Hotel staff is very friendly and attentive and there are many foreign people in the hotel. As I arrived in the hotel at about 11:00 I was waiting for my room to be cleaned. During this time the manager was very attentive to me and suggested free drink. In the lobby the atmosphere was very lively. The location is good and it is near the subway station. It is rather clean.
I was living in tthe room without window and I would not recommend people to book it for a long time because it is always dark in the room and it is not easy to understand if it is morning outside or still the night - so you may have some difficulties to awake in the morning. Another point - there is no fresh air in the room because of it. The fitness center is not nice and not new looking. So, although I wanted to make fitness as I saw fitness room inside - I've changed my mind.
The staff is ready to serve hotel guests without delay. - Mrs. Joanna Zhou arranged a very nice trip by train to Tibet, Lhasa. The guide (Mr. Kelsang) is a highly experienced professional. We enjoyed his company. (Our stay this year so far: 02. - 07.05.2010 and 13. - 14.05.2010)
The ability of your staff to understand English is very good, in average, but with the young ladies at the Tours desk I could not make myself understood without help from Reception desk. My Chinese is on the same level with their English, so a meaningful communication was impossible.
Staff often incompetent and not very friendly/helpful (this was my third stay there, probably also my last). This was already the second time that I could not get the room that I booked (non-smoking/king size bed). Breakfast only until 9:30 am (Mon-Fri), but staff even gets mad at you if you show up later than 9:10 am!
Concierge works well.
Renovations going on the whiole, day. backside is in front of the entry of a hospital-very noisy.
Staff is willing and friendly, but ineffecient.
There seemed to be always queus at the front desk. Either the staff works very inefficient, or the capacity of front desk is too low with total guest capacity of hotel! It sometimes took 30+ minutes to complete a simple check-in or check-out procedure.
Good location. 15-20 minute walk to Tianenmen Square.
Loud outside. Bad smells. Sink, tub, toilet all in poor condition.
Hotel was good.
Not to many english speaking personnel but this seems to be normal in Beijing. They still have one year left to improve till the olympics will start.
