Evaluations of LaGuardia Plaza Hotel
The serving staff for breakfast were very polite and it was a pleasure to meet them. Also, the bell hop was more than obliging to assist us on our departure the next morning.
Firstly, on arrival at La Guardia airport I called requesting instructions as to where we were supposed to meet the shuttle. This was met with a tone of condescension from a representative of your hotel. Secondly, the shuttle driver made it clear that he was inconvenienced from being awoken from his slumber. Thirdly, although a non-smoking room was requested we were given the choice of either a smoking room or a wall bed. After choosing the smoking room, the smell was overwhelming and we were able to smell cigarette smoke in our clothes for the days to come. Fourthly, whilst sitting on the toilet we could see up under the rim of the basin which was growing a large culture of mould (the photos of which I will attach in an email). The toilet didn't flush clear water either which discouraged any teeth brushing or showering. And finally, the cover for the air conditioning filter was left ajar and on inspection was found to be caked in years worth of dust/grime (the photos of which will also be sent to you).
Close to airport. Knowledgable and helpful staff. Would recommend - except...
Had to go to 3 rooms to find a room that did not smell of smoke, even though they were supposed to be NO SMOKING rooms. The first definitely had a smokey smell so we asked to be moved. Hotel was very nice and sent someone up with a new room key. Second room Reeked! ! No way could we stay there. Third room was perfect - but I am not sure that I would take a chance on staying there if they could not GUARANTEE a room that did not smell like smoke - at $300 per night. Staff said that they had no control over what people do in their room. Hotel takes a credit card for ´´damage´´ etc. Why can't they let people know that they will be financially penalized if they smoke - and do it ?! Maybe that would stop people smoking in their rooms.
