Evaluations of HOWARD JOHNSON NEWARK AIRPORT
very poor hotel. no services at all.
The transport to both central New York and the airport.
I was unable to use my reservation as the staff, who were incredibly rude, would not accept my reservation/ confirmation # if I could not produce the credit card it was booked with. My sister, who lives in Costa Rica booked this room for me for my layover in Newak on my way home from my visit with her. I ended up spending the night in the airport because I was not given the room. I was treated horribly by the staff and the manager and will never again book another room with any Howard Johnson Hotel anywhere in the world. As I cannot submit this without a rating on the above, I would have given all of the above a negative rating. 1 star is extremely generous.
exelent lovation close to airport
room is old and appliances are in bad shape. seedy are. seedy staff. shower hardly works and makes alot of noise from old pipes. bed very hard. we were put in a room right where there were remodeling done so was alot of dust and noise. we didnt recieve a wake up call we ste and almost missed our flight. very bad hotel, should be half the price it cost.
Quite clean, all the equipment worked. Gym was reasonably good. Staff quickly checked me in and out.
Internet service was really slow. Worst of all, the breakfast was really cheap and intransparent! They were very cheap, only allowing each customer one drink and one muffin. I have never experienced such a cheap breakfast at another hotel! Normally, there is a self-serve all you can eat breakfast. The impression of cheapness overpowers the fact that it is free. My impression of the hotel would be better if there had been no breakfast. A cheap breakfast is worse than none. Also, the airport shuttle was slow, and the staff should have been more accurate in telling me how long I would have to wait. Over the course of over half an hour I was told ´´it will be there in just a few minutes.´´ I prefer bad news to being misled like that.
Price was very inexpensive, but I would prefer to pay $5 more in room charge for a decent breakfast. Sports facilities.
This hotel has the cheapest ´´complimentary´´ breakfast I have ever experienced!! There is a muffin guard who only gives one drink, coffee or juice, and one muffin or apple per person! This is the first non-self service breakfast I have ever seen. And it is so intransparent! There is no written explanation, everything seems to depend on the demeanor of the muffin guard. It would be better to have no breakfast than a cheap-skate breakfast! It would cost less to have no muffin guard and have a self-service breakfast. Also, on my second day the muffin guard was away for a few minutes and I was not allowed to do self service, I had to wait. This is the worst of both worlds!
cheap hotel with spacious room and fitness on site
the fitness room should be maintained better -working instruments -there is a machine for cleaning tissues but it's empty
