Property description-, simone and sheryl have owned and operated sand, castle on the beach since january of 2002. Over, the years we have refurbished the hotel, which had, fallen into disrepair. Sand castle on the beach is, a labor of love and a work in progress. In 2005,, sand castle on the beach was the first hotel on, st. Croix to install a 10 kw battery backup solar, power system and we have an ever-expanding solar, grid for both the hotel and beach side cafe. We, are proud to say that sand castle on the beach was, designed by the distinguished wisconsin born, architect, john randall mcdonald. He was a great, admirer of frank lloyd wrights* prairie school of, architecture. John randall mcdonald was considered, an organic architect for his awareness of the, elegance of the natural environment, thereby being, more sensitive to nature. He was commissioned to, design monasteries, hotels, private homes, schools, and churches. We are fortunate that he had an, office here on st. Croix for many years. He, designed homes for bjorn borg, mickey mantle,, perry como, jimmy connors and here on st. Croix,, maureen o*hara. He died in 2003. Our friendly and, courteous team make sure the hotel is as perfect, as you want it to be. They are always willing to, help and are always there for you with a friendly, smile we have some shy ones in the bunch who, haven*t let us take a picture yet, but we are, still a very small staff that keeps things nice, and personable for you., ., -Year built 1969, -total rooms 21, -number of floors 2
