Set on a private headland- overlooking Mallorca s Bay of Palma- Cap Rocat is an impressive 19th century military fortress- now totally transformed into a truly unique adults-only hotel. Located in an environmentally protected area- this magical retreat provides total peace and seclusion within an historic and cultural context. Subtle reminders of the fortress original purpose are brilliantly incorporated into the decor with the suites created out of the old munitions stores- complete with private patios and cocktail tables made from gun carriages. A collection of photographs- depicting early 20th-century life in Mallorca are also dotted throughout the property. Far from the island s hectic tourist spots- this is a great place to take advantage of the peace and quiet. Head to the islands interior with its mountains- caves and pretty villages or enjoy the vast selection of water sports in the bay. Be sure to request a specially-prepared picnic lunch.
