Evaluations of Hotel Island
The hotel was a very typical hotel for business travellers with all the normal services. Large rooms.
The ability of the staff to cope with any extra requests was rather disappointing. We arrived 11.45 the normal check-in time being 14.00. The reception asked us to sit down while they try to get the 2 rooms cleaned as soon as they can. We finally got the rooms 13.55. Why not just suggest us to be back at 14.00? At bedtime we noticed that the pillows and blankets were goose feather. Allergic to those, I requested them to be changed. Half an hour later the staff managed to arrange ONE set of pillow and blanket (to double bed) of other material. Not very impressive. (Hint! when travelling to Iceland and if allergic to feather pillows, ask replacement when reserving the room. They seem to be the norm in every hotel or guest house.)
The breakfast was wonderful We were there during the long days of summer, and they started serving breakfast at 4:30 in the morning, which helped us a lot. We used the thermal pool near the hotel, and it was very good--the largest one in Reykjavik.
One one day, housekeeping was weak--they didn't empty the trash or clean the bathroom. The other days, it was terrific.
