March 2014

I was initially checked into a twin room, however I asked to change rooms as I cannot sleep in a single bed and every time i rolled over the bed moved as it was on wheels. This was a single bed. The next morning I went to reception and asked to swap to a double bed. I was eventually told I could have one and I was told to come back later. When I returned I was then told there was no double rooms available, even after being told that morning there was. I was eventually allocated a single room. This at least had a double bed, however the room was freezing due to the fact that the patio doors where broken and the door wouldn't shut. When I left the room in the morning the corridor was full of maintenance men who had open tins of paint on a very narrow corridor. I also had to navigate my way around the wallpaper spread across the floor to get into the lift. Overall I was very disappointed with my stay and I will be unlikely to stay here again

you are charged for internet, which makes the price performance very negative all standard hotels offer free wifi

Resolution of difficulties with Reception was swift and efficient.

Aspects of performance of Reception staff were unacceptably poor on arrival and making restaurant bookings.

Close to the train, and NEC

Be warned, if you book a single, you will get a twin bed in a very small and dated room. I paid 91 pounds for a not great room. Staff were nice, but room needs some serious modernization.

November 2012

I stay at this hotel several times a year for various events and conferences and always enjoy my stay.

Air con in the conference rooms is very drying and I am often too cold at events whatever the time of year. Also the bar prices are very expensive.

September 2012

The room price paid through hotel.info was very good value compared with the hotels normal charges. The staff responded within a few minutes to replace a bathroom light bulb that wasn't working. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and efficient. The quality of food and restaurant was very good.

The bath looked grubby but on closer inspection it seemed that the surface was worn so no amount of extra cleaning would improve the appearance. There did not appear to be the option of taking stairs to and from reception only lifts. The only stairs that we could see were for a fire exit. There was a smokers' shelter immediately below our room which was used during late night events and the double glazing of the room was not sufficient to keep out the sounds of people in conversation. Meals and drinks were expensive (including the service charge which we chose not to delete from the bill).
