Evaluations of Daresbury Park
value and clean and warm staff very nice and helpful
Lack of tv in the bar Expensive bar menu decor is a little worn
I had room 265. It was very spacious and quite clean. Décor was good. Good parking.Very cheap overnight stay at £46
Staff did not seem very well trained. Reception staff were having a private chat when we arrived and they left us standing there until they finished their conversation and seemed put out that we interrupted them! Breakfast staff - No Good morning or general welcome (lack of respect and manners) they did not explain instructions on how the buffet works and simply said find yourself a table and grab yourself some coffee. I may as well have been in a pub! I won't be going back there to be sure and neither will my colleagues until their staff are fully trained.
This booking was placed on the company (Lidl UK GmbH) account, however, I was charged at the hotel upon arrival. I advised the two receptionists that there was a company account and it should be charged through this, however, they were not helpful or willing to check any further details. I do not understand what the point of having a company account is if the guest still has to pay upon arrival. In this instance, my company was expecting to receive an invoice for the cost which I tried to explain.
The fact that when my room was dirty they gave me another one without any issue - (which was occupied) then another one - the 3rd room was nice - an upgrade - that was nice of them.
The dirty sheets and 'cell' like room. Having to walk all the way back to reception when I requested another room. Walk all the way back, drag my stuff to another room -find a naked man in that room -drag my stuff all the way back to the original room - go back down to the reception area - get another room key and go back up and drag my stuff all the way back to this room. I have a knee issue and it became very swollen doing this. Bathroom of 3rd room was moldly in places. The bath mat was hideous. TV channels were very limited. No movies etc - or if there were I could not see how to access them. A bottle of water in the room would have been a nice touch. I could not open the window - I had to perch on the top of the sofa edge to get a tiny bit at the top open, not sure if that is a fire hazard. (it is forcing me to rate the sports/wellness offer and I did not use - but it is forcing a rating).
The Hotel was very very hot, despite being cool outside. Had to change rooms. The hotel and both rooms had a smell of cigarette smoke. The food staff were rude. The hotel generally had a grotty appearence. I beleive that this Britannia Hotel has been featured on an undercover TV programme to show its many faults.
Close to motorways, but yet quiet
Reception check in, felt like it was to much trouble. No TV remote in room, a used tissue on the table in the room.
Got this v cheap
Not easy to get round restaurant difficult to find
The hotel staff had made every effort to keep the building cool by ventilating the corridors The external temperature and humidity was high. The swimming pool was excellent
Credit card charge £3.50. Information about this is clearly displayed in reception. Why not be honest and add it to the room rate?
Value for money hotel in a perfect location for the business traveller
The room was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was good.
The room decoration looked old and neglected, with paint peeling off of the covings. Both bedside lampshades were damaged. Didn't look or feel like a 4* hotel, have been in better 3*. The restaurant was the worst, being poorly run, albeit with a new menu (3 days). It was too cold in the restaurant and despite several requests, nothing changed. The new menu was ambiguous and unclear. and extremely overpriced. When the small portions of food arrived, it was good.
