Hotel does need some updating but sufficient for the money
The staff reacted instantly and positively on our initial request to give rooms with windows exiting on quiet side.
1)No free Wi-Fi in rooms - now it's practically standard option in London hotels of the same class. . The staff must do their efforts to reach this standard. 2) This is not the fault of the hotel but it is very difficult to find, despite the real distance 100 m from the station. This is due to large construction works in the neighborhood AREA. From the central station you follow the signs for Southgate and then turn left and walk 30 meters to the intersection with the Station street - turn left again on this street about 50 meters and you are at the hotel. If you know it - all the way in 5 minutes - if not, then for an hour as we have.
This was really a bad choice of hotel, and definitely wasn't worth £50 a night. The website led me to believe that it included breakfast, which it didn't. On arrival one receptionist (younger one) was pleasant but the older/ more senior one was really rude and it was difficult even getting an extra teabag from her. It was noisy, but not just because of the contsruction work at the train station opposite.The rooms are above a noisy pub. It was also possible to hear through the walls/ ceiling from the other rooms. The bathroom had huge flood stains on the ceiling and the carpet in the bedroom was filthy and stained.The general standard was low, shabby and worn out.A glasss shelf was badly and dangerously positioned in the bathroom. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
It was cheap and well located to the station and the course location I was attending.
More like a hostel than a hotel. No facilities. lumpy bed, broken bedside light, leaking shower. 14 inch portable TV with 5 channels that expired its PAT testing (a legal requirement) a year ago. I've never known a UK hotel that doesn't give you a spare toilet roll! The towels where never changed but no radiator in the bathroom so they stayed damp. The window opened straight out onto an external fire escape which was rusted through and looked very unsafe. The bathroom tiles had been white washed over the existing patterned tiles but you could still see the old pattern through. Basically just a reception and rooms. Not a nice place to stay at all and would never stay there again. Personally I think this hotel should be removed from the website.
Very conveniently located to New Street Station. Excellent that we could store our luggage to tour about before our train connection.

I have never stayed in a hotel like this before in my life, when we arrived we were'nt aware that the credit card details we had given were only to confirm the booking not to actually pay for it which i suppose happens a lot my problem was with the receptionist on duty that day he has absolutly no customer skills at all the way he handled the situation was like we were a couple of idiots, once the misunderstanding had been sorted and we were ready to check in he had no idea where our room key was so he had to take us up to our room and he said he would bring us the key up later! Once we arrived in the room we found that we had been given a triple room instead of a deluxe double. This 'Deluxe' room had a large broken window there was even a hole in it letting in air, i rang down to reception to report it and i was told that it had been done last week and that he would check it later!! when we returned from our evening show i asked if anyone had been up to check on the window and noone had but yet again he said that he would check on it my fiance and i waited for about half an hour and noone came so one of us went downstairs only to be told that the receptionist had gone home!!!! back in our room we found the blankets in the bottom of the wardrobe when we opened one out it had old blood on it so me and my fiance basically froze all night when we checked out in the morning there was a different receptionist on duty i aired my views to him and he couldn't have been more helpful and apoligetic i was told that the manager was in the office and they obviously heard my complaints but not once did they leave their office to apologise for their bad standards i would never recommend this hotel to anyone and if i overhear anyone saying they will be staying there, based on my own experience, i will be strongly advise them against it
I was supposed to receive a registered mail sent to this hotel address. Surprisingly enough the first thing I heard from the hotel receptionist was that he had been on the night shift as a security person until 7AM but he was just there as a receptionist did not show by the time he was usually allowed to leave. He knew nothing about reception and no information was provided on my mail as a message to be handed over and that I should wait until 3PM. The mail was actually for a 1PM event and it would be too late. The temp receptionist was kind enough to check the safe first but the mail was not there. After looking around for 15 to 20 minutes he finally found it, which was left with all other things. He was also surprised that a registered mail was handled that way. The room quality was not bad and it was just 1-2 minute walk from the station but I would never use this hotel in case I have something unusual to ask the hotel staff to take care of.
