Evaluations of Britannia Birmingham
Not much, basic rooms wouldn’t been happy to price non discount price. In city centre
Drab and dull’ only 1 lift working which was smelly, lots of outside noise even on 7th floor.entrance on dingy alleyway
location. In the center of the city.
- rooms & lobby dirty, - rooms smell like weed - rooms are smaller than the pictures - syphon in the toilet does not work. - windows of the room does not close securely Even though I changed my room, same problems also happened. No one should ever stay in this hotel.
Right next to main streets,shopping,rail.
A little rough around the edges.
Overall stay was good. Bed was comfy, decent tv, and breakfast was v.good
Very noisy though was opposite a conference room, toilet seat was completely broken
the dinner food looked pretty awful & overcooked. looked like frozen fish & the roast beef looked over done so didn't try any of it. breakfast was ok but not as good as some other hotels. The so called free newspapers were only for the Irish & Jewish it would appear.
The £7 breakfast was worth £7
This hotel was last refurbished in the 1970s and possibly that was the last time it was cleaned as well. Check-in took 20 minutes with just 3 of us in the queue and despite it being past midday I was obliged to queue again later to get a key given the room not being ready. The room itself was disgusting. The size of a large cupboard it had a single bed with a hard mattress, 1980s TV, instant coffee of unknown origin, and a dribble of a shower that may or may not have had clean water. Throughout the night the room was about 26-28degrees Celsius, even with the window open and radiators off. And this on a late September evening with external temperatures of 16-18 degrees. There was no air conditioning. Despite this, with the window open you could clearly hear heavy machinery operating throughout the night that kept me awake until 4pm when there was brief respite. Other sufferers in the very close rooms that overlooked mine had their TVs on full blast and added to the mix. I got around 2 hours sleep, when passed out from exhaustion. If kept awake at night I do not recommend walking the local streets. You are in the middle of Birmingham City Centre, a rather troubling place in the small hours, with the hotel entrance down a dark alley. The last straw for me was returning late afternoon on the day after to find the room had not been cleaned. I checked out early and found alternative shelter. BASF should never use this hotel, ever again
Its position Central. Everything was in walking distance. Staff really helpful and friendly, would bend over backwards to help.
Only one plug socket took a normal plug - think their electrics need updating!!
Very convenient for Birmingham New Street Station. The room was pleasant, with slightly old fashioned furniture and fittings that suited the ambience of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and there was a little bath
I had to hop up and down from bed as the radiator was very fierce (room too hot) and if I turned it down it started to hammer violently so I had to turn it completely off, so then the room got cold and 2 hours later I had to turn it on--etc. etc.
I have raised a complaint. The room was dirty. It stank of cigarettes and they have no car park despite the advertisement. The customer service from hotel.info in regards to my complaint was dreadful. Will never use again. AVOID!!!!
