Braunschweig, also known as the Lion City, is the second largest town in Lower Saxony and is characterised by its unique appearance consisting of modern architecture and historic monuments at the same time. Your stay at Braunschweig will be enhanced by the various events and a stay at one of the well renowned hotels of the city.
You can reach the hotels in the city centre of Braunschweig via one of the two autobahns, A2 or A39, or, starting at the central station with public transportation. Due to there currently being no environmental zone in the city, you may access all the sights by car. Being either a tourist or a business traveller, please make sure to book your hotel early enough, since they will be fully booked in times of special events. E.g. there is the very popular fair „Harz + Heide”, Lower Saxony’s largest consumer fair, which will be taking place every year at the end of September.
If you have some spare time between business meetings you may take a walk around the magnificent historic city centre of Braunschweig. When doing so, please make sure not to miss the Magniviertel (St. Magnus Quarter) with its nicely preserved half-timbered houses and the Rizzi House, built in 2001. Not far from this historical island Braunschweig’s castle has been rebuilt in 2007 and now houses a huge shopping centre.
The Braunschweig Cathedral on the castle square unmistakably marks the centre of the city. On this square you will also find one of the most renowned hotels of the city, the “Hotel Deutsches Haus”. Since there are also branches of some well-known companies (e.g. Volkswagen Bank, Siemens, DLR, Nordzucker, Wolters, Feldschlösschen), Braunschweig’s hotels are popular with business travellers.
