Breakfast was top notch.

We arrived on a Thursday with a reservation. The website stated that the hotel would be closed between 2:00 and 4:30, so when we arrived at 2:15 after a long drive, we weren't ´´too´´ concerned about the locked doors and completely closed look of the place (lights off, no activity whatsoever). We took a drive and arrived back at 5:00 to locked doors. The place looked vacant and dark through the doors. We tried the speaker at the side door.... No answer and just a recorded message that no one was available. We tried calling the hotel... No answer. We called the booking co.... They tried calling also.... No answer. At that point the booking co began finding alternatives for us. We began driving to look at alternatives. Eventually, before we actually booked at a different hotel (we were still unclear what our liability would be for the reservation) we got a phone call stating that the owner was there and that we could now come over to check in. We decided to avoid any possible complication and do so. When we arrived the hotel still appeared dark and closed, but this time the owner did answer the intercom. Mind you nobody actually answered the door or greeted us in any way. We were directed on how to remove our room key from the lockbox outside. That's it. We let ourselves into the building and found our room. It was a little creepy honestly. We never saw one hotel employee that evening. We enjoyed dinner at another hotel up the street that night...then came back to our hotel room. The room was clean...average... Nothing special, but Not really complaining about that. I had no idea what to expect in the morning. Surprise surprise... I went downstairs in the morning and the place was busy with breakfast...staff busy helping people and all. I felt like I was in a twighlight episode...not sure it was the same place! Anyway, bottom line, if you are going to take reservations for a Thursday, then decide it's a day off, you're making a big mistake. Guests should be greeted...and should not feel creeped out walking into a place. The morning helped my impression somewhat, but not enough. We stayed in town one more night, but not at the Adler.

It is a family owned hotel in a quiet area. Friendly staffs. Room is clean. Good breakfast. For a overnight stop, it is fine.

Lindau is a very nice town. The hotel is not in a walking distance to the town (about 3 or 4 miles away). Not easy to find after exiting highway. Not much is going on (available) after dark.
