Lonsdale House was built in 1851 and was converted into a hotel in 1932. The 4 Star hotel is set in the picturesque Victorian village of Bowness-on-Windermere which nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere. The village provides an abundance of restaurants; bars; shops and attractions. If you would like to get away for a celebration why not include a Celebration Package with your stay. The Package includes champagne on ice; chocolates; fresh bouquet of flowers; rose petals sprinkled on the bed and a red rose on the pillow. The hotel has recently been fully refurbished yet retaining much of its original character and Victorian features; the accommodation won the coveted UK Accommodation of the Year award and has attained the ETC standard of 4 star accommodation with a Visit Britain Silver hosting Award. It offers superb en-suite accommodation finished to a very high standard throughout. All guest rooms have recently undergone a full refurbishment and are attractively decorated to a high standard reflecting this beautiful 19th Century Residence. All rooms are en-suite and include complimentary toiletries and towels; an enhanced Welcome Tray; TV-VCR; radio and alarm clock and a hairdryer and an iron and ironing board are available. We have a comfortable and relaxing Guest Lounge with WIFI Internet connection; which is a great place to unwind after a long day exploring and a traditional Cellar Bar which serves a variety of drinks. We also offer a host of activities ranging from quad biking to a relaxing sail on the beautiful Lake Windermere. Free outdoor parking is available in front and to the rear of the hotel. Additional Information; Children aged 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children aged 3-14 pay 20 GBP when sharing with an adult. Exit Manchester Airport and head northwest on Wilmslow Old Rd towards Sunbank Ln. Turn left at Sunbank Ln. Turn right at A538-Wilmslow Rd. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the M56 ramp to Manchester. Merge onto M56. Continue on A5103 and at junction 5 exit onto the M60. At junction 15 exit onto the M61 towards Wigan-Bolton-Preston. Merge onto M6 and at junction 36 exit onto the A590. Continue on A591 signs for Kendal-A591-A6-Windermere. Go through 1 roundabout. Turn left at A5074-Elleray Rd. Continue to follow A5074 and the hotel is on the right.There are regular trains from Manchester Airport to Piccadilly; from where you can take the west coast main line to Oxenholme Station and change there for trains to Windermere Station. Continue on A591 signs for Kendal-A591A6-Windermere. Go through 1 roundabout. Turn left at A5074-Elleray Rd. Continue to follow A5074 and the hotel is on the right. |
