In the heart of Kalenborn there is the source of the Swistbach, which is flowing through the whole shire, until it flows into the river Erft in Erftstadt. In the immediate proximity you may find the “Rotweinparadis”, the Ahrtal. It counts among the most beautiful tributary valleys of the whole Rhine. Every visitor is pleased about the almost Mediterranean climate, which can be found here due to an inflow of mild air from the Rhine valley.
