* Eat freshly caught seafood at one of the harbourside restaurants and watch Italy's jet-set stroll past. * Walk around the lighthouse at the top of the promontory from which you can enjoy splendid views of the picturesque port and the Mediterranean beyond. * Take a boat trip to San Fruttuoso and on a calm day, try and spot the bronze statue of Christ immersed 15 meters below the surface in memory of divers who have lost their lives at sea. * Drive to Santa Margherita, a popular seaside resort on the Gulf of Tigullio. Dating back to Roman times and characterized by the old fishermen's houses that face on to the port, the town is home to the Villa Durazzo, a 16th century building, with an elegant garden and large park with exotic plants, statues and fountains. * Swim at Paraggi, a sparkling cove three kilometers from the village. * Book the Splendido's private speedboat for some exhilarating water skiing. * Walk to the summit of Monte Portofino - on a very clear day you can see as far as Corsica. * Follow the footpath to San Fruttuoso through the vineyards, orchards and slopes covered in cypress and olive groves and wander through the recently restored abbey which fills the width of the bay. * Take a drive along the coast to the five villages of Cinque Terre, perched on tiny cliff-bound inlets overlooking the Mediterranean and surrounded by steeply terraced vineyards. * Drive to Rapallo and take the cable car to Montallegro for spectacular views of the coast. |
