Dunain Park is a secluded Georgian country house standing in 6 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. Both Dunain Park and its restaurant have won many awards for its high standards of comfort and service including *Scottish Country House of the Year* and Egon Ronay*s Taste of Scotland award. Dunain Park still retains much of its historic charm, atmosphere and decorative detail. Its relaxed and informal atmosphere is like that of a private house with an open fire burning in the hearth and tea or coffee with home-baked cakes, scones and pastries offered to guests upon arrival. The grounds of Dunain Park were laid out by the Victorians. Two walled gardens display some wonderful native trees and banks of Rhododendrons that create a natural habitat for many birds and wild life including Roe deer, Hares, Rabbits and hedge hogs that can be seen in the nearby fields. Dinner at Dunain Park is a real treat with all the chutneys and jams as well as the puddings, home-baking and petit fours all freshly produced on-site. The hotel owners go to great lengths to source top quality local produce and the Restaurant has won several awards for the quality of its cuisine. Guests can order a refreshment in the lounge before dinner or just relax in the comfortable surroundings by the real log fire before being shown to your table in the dining room. There is an excellent wine list with over 90 bins as well as over 200 single malt whiskies. The natural beauty of the area with the Caledonian Canal, Glen Affric, Strath Glass and miles of beaches and forest attract many walkers and a host of leisure activities from horse-riding to skiing can be arranged at the hotel. |

Inverness is truly *the city in the Highlands* - a small, fresh northern city with its streets in summer a busy mix of residents and visitors. The new extension to the Eastgate Centre, with its many High Street names, reflects the city*s important commercial role, while the refurbished Victorian Arcade nearby. The city also has an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants and late-night venues, as well as Scottish Showtime, traditional music and dance performed in costume, said to be Scotland*s longest running show. Another important cultural centre is the Eden Court Theatre and Cinema, with an entertainment programme to suit all tastes, though this is just one venue for a very varied events programme which also includes the music and martial spectacle of the Inverness Tattoo. Inverness Museum and Art Gallery displays the heritage of the area, from archaeology to natural history. Inverness Castle, dating from the1830s, is a castellated prominent gothic-style building in red sandstone, now the setting of the Castle Garrison Encounter, a costume re-enactment of life for an 18th-century soldier. Things to see and do- - The natural beauty of the area with the Caledonian Canal, Glen Affric, Strath Glass and miles of beaches and forest attract many walkers. For the more adventurous there are the Munros and Corbetts to climb. - Trout fishing can be booked at The Tarvie Lochs - Troutmaster Fishery, at Contin - 15 miles from the hotel, whilst Salmon fishing can be arranged through Grahams of Inverness. - By Loch Ness at Drumnadrochit treks or lessons can be booked at the BHS approved Highland Riding Centre. - Cawdor Castle where Shakespeare set Macbeth, also has wonderful gardens. - Dunrobin Castle built in the style of a French Chateau, with classical gardens overlooking the sea. - Inverewe Botanical Gardens with palm trees and exotic plants thriving in the warmth of the Gulf Stream. - Abriachan Nursery by Loch Ness. A plant lovers delight. - Culloden Battlefield where *Bonnie Prince Charlie* led his army in the last battle fought on British soil. - Fort George an outstanding example of Eighteenth Century military fortification. It has an interesting Regimental Museum and is still used by the army. - Clava Cairns - bronze age standing stones - Traditional Distilleries of Glen Ord, Tomatin and Whisky Trail - Boat Trips can be arranged along the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness and the ruins of Urquhart Castle and its new visitor centre or from Inverness harbour out the Moray Firth to look for Dolphins.
