The Langdale Hotel & Country Club is a natural woodland haven with streams and tarns, dotted with massive millstones and other carefully preserved reminders of its history as a 19th century gunpowder works. Great care has been taken to retain the character of the Estate whilst still providing high standards of accommodation, and impeccable standards of service that the hotel is renowned for. In harmony with it*s beautiful and peaceful setting, the bedrooms at have been converted from original historic buildings close to the main facilities, some alongside the sparkling waters of the river, others looking onto high fells or nestling in the wooded beauty of the Estate. The Country Club at the Langdale Hotel is considered one of the biggest and best facilities. Guests can enjoy outstanding views of the surrounding Estate from the 20 metre pool and the twelve-person spa pool. The Langdale offers a choice of dining including the intimate Purdeys Restaurant, the more informal bistro style Terrace Restaurant and a traditional Lakeland pub, Wainwrights Inn. |

From the South - Leave the M6 at Junction 36, take the A591 by-passing Kendal. Follow this Lakeland route past Windermere to Ambleside. Turn left on to the A593. At Skelwith Bridge turn right on to the B5343 & follow signs for Langdale. From the North - Leave the M6 at Junction 40. Take the A66 towards Keswick, then left via the B5322 on to the A591 via Grasmere to Ambleside. Turn right on to the A593. At Skelwith Bridge turn right on to the B5343 & follow signs for Langdale. |

The Lake District is a truly magical part of the country. Its combination of soaring mountains, beautiful lakes and magnificent unspoilt scenery is breathtaking whatever time of the year. It also offers something for everyone: unbeatable walking, climbing and cycling; a host of water based activities; bustling rural towns full of local character and industry; houses of historic and cultural interest; and stunning views around virtually every corner. It is hardly surprising that writers and poets such as Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin and Wordsworth chose to make the Lake District their home, many of which are now open to the public. The Lakes also offers great choice of visitor attractions ranging from Windermere Steamboat Museum which houses a unique collection of the lake's nautical heritage, to attractions which all the family will love such as Aquarium of the Lakes at Newby Bridge and Cars of the Stars in Keswick. |

Langdale Hotels Country Club is one of the biggest and best facilities in the North of England. The heated indoor leisure pool is the centrepiece of the Club; a sub-tropical paradise and the perfect place to relax - lounge at the poolside, swim, or enjoy the soothing spa bath, sanarium and steam room. The luxurious 20-metre pool is maintained at a comfortable 30 degrees. A roped-off lane dedicated for serious swimmers separates the more energetic from the leisure bathers, and everyone can enjoy the massage seat built into the pool. With outstanding views of the Estate from the spacious pool and the twelve-person spa pool, it is a great place to wile away an hour or two. Guests can spend some quality time in the state-of-the-art sanarium with its combination of steam and heat that allows you to enjoy relaxing for far longer than the more traditional type of steam room or sauna. The sanarium combines the soothing heat of a sauna with the cleansing humidity of a steam room, but, unlike a sauna it is not a searing heat, and the humidity is not as intense as a steam room. The Tropical Shower provides relaxing, warm, scented tropical rain or a chilling artic blast - you choose, but be sure to press the right button! Alternatively cool down with a Deluge Shower with four gallons of icy cold water delivered in under a second! A full range of health and beauty and holistic treatments are available at the Health & Beauty Salon using Guinot and Elemis Skin Care products. The Exercise Studio has a good range of Cardiovascular equipment and free weights, you can exercise while watching your favourite TV programme or listening to CDs. Qualified consultants can undertake a fitness assessment and design a personal exercise programme for you, plus give advice on lifestyle and nutrition. Guests have three dining options - Purdey*s Restaurant Located in the main hotel building in the Langdale Hotel, Purdey*s Restaurant has been refurbished in the style of an old mill, with oak floors, original stone and water features creating an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. As a feature there is an original cannon used to test gunpowder in the last century. Friendly service and attention to detail ensure a wonderful dining experience. After your meal, retire to Hobson's Bar with its comfortable seating beside gentle fountain water feature. The Terrace Restaurant Overlooking the luxurious pool of the acclaimed Langdale Country Club is the Bistro style Terrace Restaurant & Cafe-Bar. The comfortable lounge area is a relaxing social venue with an informal atmosphere. Outside on the patio, tables at the water's edge offer marvellous views and are an idyllic setting for summer barbeques. Wainwrights Inn Traditional Lakeland Pub A short, pleasant walk from the Estate to Chapel Stile brings you to Wainwrights' Inn, a traditional Lakeland Pub with stone flagged floors, open fires and real ale. Originally part of a 200 year old Cumbrian farmhouse, it has been carefully restored and decorated retaining many local antiques and curiosities. Well-know for its hospitality and good food, Wainwrights' is regularly featured in the Good Pub Guide. |
