The 4 Star Grand Hotel Ortigia is situated on the island of Ortigia and is surrounded by the deep blue Mediterranean Sea. It is a stones throw from the Fonte Aretusa; where it is said that the Goddess Diana saved the young Aretusa from the advances of the God Alfeo by turning her into a well. The hotel was built during the first years of the nineteenth century and it is now 100 years old; and even though it was restructured in 1995; its original architectural structure remains unchanged; as does the charm of its Liberty style. Inside the hotel; preserved in perfect condition is the Mura Spagnole and other archaeological finds discovered in the Piccolo Museo area. Among the 58 rooms; there are 16 junior and deluxe suites and all the rooms are furnished in an elegant style and equipped with modern technological communications and some of the rooms also have Jacuzzi baths. All guest rooms are feature a mini bar; Sat television; air conditioning; a safe; a bathroom with a hairdryer; a sitting area; a desk and heating. On the Terrazza sul Mare is a restaurant; which is accessed by a panoramic lift. The terrace itself stretches out along the small tourist port from which the beautiful Mediterranean sunsets can be admired as the clear evening light floods the sea of Ortigia. The kitchen of the Grand Hotel Ortigia is characterized by its regional and International specialties as well as its wine cellar which is full of wines of International repute. The hotel also has fully equipped meeting rooms of various dimensions which are ideal for hosting work related events. The hotel also has its own open paid car park. Additional Information; Children aged 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children aged 3-12 receive a 50pct reduction when sharing with an adult. Children over this age will be considered an adult. The hotel reserves the right to without prior notification cancel any reservation with an invalid or incomplete credit card number. |

From Fontanarossa Airport; head northeast towards Via San Giuseppe alla Rena. Turn right at Via San Giuseppe alla Rena. Turn right at Stradale Primosole. Continue on SS114. At the roundabout; take the 2nd exit and stay on SS114. Go through 2 roundabouts. Take the ramp to SS114. Bear right at SS114 following signs for Siracusa. Take exit Siracusa to merge onto Via per Floridia-SS124 and continue to follow SS124. Continue on Viale Ermocrate. Turn left to stay on Viale Ermocrate. Bear right towards Via Elorina. At the roundabout; take the 4th exit onto Via Elorina. Continue on Via Malta. Turn right at Riva Garibaldi. Turn left at Viale Mazzini and the hotel will be on the left.
There are coaches from the airport to Siracusa and the coach stop is 1km from the hotel. From here; you can take either a taxi or a shuttle bus to the hotel. Alternatively; transport can be arranged directly with the hotel at a charge and subject to 2 days prior notification. |
