The Bell Inn at Woburn is a delightful English Country Public House- Restaurant and Hotel which has recently been the subject of much rebuilding work to restore it to its former beauty. The building housing the Pub and Restaurant dates back to the 17th Century and the abundance of beams and studwork which were uncovered have been left exposed wherever possible. The bar area and the rooms above were added during the Victorian era and furnishings and fittings have been chosen to blend in with these two distinct periods. The Bells restaurant contains a wealth of exposed beams with an original fireplace and it is in this warm atmosphere that our guests are able to dine from our adventurous and interesting menu. Our chefs prepare food of the highest quality from a modern well equipped kitchen. Woburn is recorded as a Saxon hamlet in 969 and in the Doomsday Book of 1086. The name- derived from the Saxon word -wo- meaning crooked and -burn- a small stream. |
