The Hanseatic city of Stralsund is situated in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany's north and directly at Strelasund, a sound of the Baltic Sea between the German mainland and the island of Rügen which is why, Stralsund is also called the gate to Rügen.

The Hanseatic city of Stralsund awaits you with a host of sights including the historic Old Town with the Gothic city hall, the construction of which already started around 1250. However, without doubt, one of the most popular sights in Stralsund is the German Oceanographic Museum, the largest museum dedicated to natural study in Northern Germany.
