Gran Meliá Fénix: a hotel with a grand history
The new facilities at the Gran Meliá Fénix have managed to recover their former splendor and restore the hotel to its rightful place in the history of Madrid. Inaugurated in 1953 with the assistance of the actor Gregory Peck, what was then known as the Hotel of the Nobility was also visited in the same year by the actresses Gloria Swanson and Rita Hayworth, amongst many other celebrities. It was in 1965 when the Beatles decided to hold one of the most well-attended press conferences ever seen in the capital in the hotel while also taking four luxury suites.
