September 2010
This was an excellent hotel from every point of view. Well situated near Princes Street, polite, friendly staff, good meals served in the bar all day at competitive prices. Room was clean and bright. We will definitely return.

The only negative comment is that breakfast was not included and at seventeen pounds sterling per person was too expensive. Went to the Scottish National Gallery for breakfast where it was one third of the price!

December 2009
the staff was very friendly and mostly helpful.

the heater did not work in our room. When we call the desk about it the lady told us that it comes on by itself at different times of the day! That is nuts!! I am cold and I want it on now! When we got into our room the window was opened a little we could not get it closed so we called about that and someone came right up and closed it. The next day after sleeping without a heater....we went out for the day and when we came back the window was opened again and the heater was still not on...needless to say it was quite cold in the room. We called the front desk and a manager came up and could not get the window closed (lots of traffic noise). He was able to get the heater working and offered us another room in which the window would close, it was late in the evening and we were tired and leaving the next morning so we chose not to move. The towel warmer was not on nor could we figure out how to turn it on. We called about this....she said it would come on automatically at a certain time. The next morning.. yep she was right it came on at a certain time....after we were finished with our showers and dried off with cold towels!! Now the manager bought us (my husband and myself) a drink down at the bar for our troubles and he was very kind but come on for these prices this stuff should not of happened!!
