Hotel description The King James

The King James, Edinburgh

Located in the historic and charming heart of Scotland's cultural capital of Edinburgh, the 4 star King James hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the incredible attractions Edinburgh has to offer. With modern, stylish furnishings and convenient commodities, all of your travelling requirements will be fulfilled by the accommodating, multilingual and friendly staff.

The individually styled, modish rooms all contain thoughtful amenities such as flat screen televisions with numerous channels, high speed internet, tea and coffee making facilities and spacious private bathrooms. Families will be delighted to discover that all children under the age of 12 stay for free when using existing beds, so guests will have more cash to spend in the quaint shops on the nearby Princess street. After your refreshing rest, enjoy a traditional cooked breakfast in the morning, complete with crisp, buttery toast and fragrant tea.

The city of Edinburgh bursts with intriguing history and family friendly attractions; less than a mile away lies the majestic Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Edinburgh Military tattoo, where soldiers perform unique ceremonies set to music; numerous museums housing art and interesting artefacts saturate the centre; whiskey fans will adore the Scottish Whiskey experience, where you follow a bottle of whiskey's complicated journey; and fans of comedy will revel in the festive atmosphere of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, where comedy and theatre take over the cobbled streets.

After your exhausting day of attractions, return to the warm, familiar atmosphere of the King James hotel and enjoy refined Scottish dishes such as a classic haggis in the refined Craig's restaurant. During the months of April to November, incredible displays of Scottish music and dancing take place every night, another reason your stay at the King James hotel will be fantastic.

"I liked the fact that it was so central for shops, sightseeing and transport. The breakfast was good value and the bar staff helpful when advising wines etc."

"Although the room was small I felt it could have done with some heating in the bathroom especially the towel rail which did not seem to be connected to anything."

"This was an excellent hotel from every point of view. Well situated near Princes Street, polite, friendly staff, good meals served in the bar all day at competitive prices. Room was clean and bright. We will definitely return."

"The only negative comment is that breakfast was not included and at seventeen pounds sterling per person was too expensive. Went to the Scottish National Gallery for breakfast where it was one third of the price!"
