Hotel description Romantik Seehotel Sonne

The recently renovated Romantik Seehotel Sonne is the only historical four-star hotel at the banks of Lake Zurich. The city centre of Zurich and Zurich Airport are reachable within a few minutes, due to its convenient location.

Most of our 40 individually appointed rooms offer pretty views of the lake and provide contemporary amenities. The rooms are equipped with direct dial phone, fax and modem connection, WLAN, TV, safe and mini-bar. The entire hotel is decorated with original paintings by contemporary artists such as Andy Warhol or Augusto Giacometti.

At our restaurants we serve you a range of culinary specialties. The Sunnegalerie is the place to enjoy seasonal, European dishes and at the restaurant you can sample modern creations of Swiss specialties.

Moreover, we provide 3 historical rooms and a magnificent hall for banquets, seminars and conferences. The open-air restaurant with self service and a private sunbathing area at the lakeside complement the range of offers. The newly opened fitness and wellness area with workout machines, steam bath, bio sauna, Jacuzzi tubs, ice fountain and recreation room is the ideal venue to unwind and stock up on energy.

The visitors’ tax is charged separately.

The best scrambled eggs, bacon and salmon in town. Breakfast was delicious. Service very good.
 
the horrible smell of smoke as you enter the lobby in the evening. Smoking not banned so if you want a drink you need to go to a smoky room. The soap was very small and not very helpfull. small shampoo in room and no conditioner.

The hotel is relly one of the best hotels available in the zuerich area. The service staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great! However, see "negative".
 
When you book this hotel via a cheap hotel.de rate (our's was approx. 120.00 EUR), you do not seem to get a regular room in the main building of the hotel. We got a room, which was located in the attic of the garage (no kidding!), accessed via the 1st floor of the secondary building. The room was very noisy (due to the close main-street). The view of the one and only window was onto the parking lot, instead of the beautiful zuerich lake. There was no feeling of luxury, as one would expect from a hotel of this category.

Very friendy staff and beautiful hotel by the lae (we where lucky with the weather) and even enjoyed swiming in the lake.
