July 2011
The hotel is in a great location.

The hotel entrance, reception and dining area were OK but the carpet in the corridors was worn away to the backing, completely threadbare, so gave a very poor impression on the opening of the lift doors. The room fittings were also worn out

March 2011
we travel in Germany extensively and shall actively seek out Ramada hotels now.

Possibly little can be done about the external noise at the Birmingham Ramada in that it is on the canal side and there is a lot of noise from late-night/early morning revellers. A higher room, floor 5, would be quieter, but we were amazed that floor 5 is for smokers. We can understand this in Germay, who have yet to catch up with modern smoking regulations, but in the UK it is most unusual for a building to have a smoking floor. A propos, your insurance would no doubt be cheaper if the hotel were completely non-smoking.Nevertheless, we still intend to use this hotel again.

October 2009
we were allowed to make changes to the room that had been booked on arrival.

i had not arrived at the hotel, but the other named person on the booking needed to check in, he was asked to pay upfront and also leave a £50.00 deposit, the staff were not willing to wait for me even though they had all my card details, they still insisted on taking this deposit, even though the room at that point had then be paid for in cash. I wasnt very happy with that at all, also the name of the hotel was not clear, so walked past it twice as it was named the lounge, this was very confusing.
