The City that Never Sleeps
For many, New York City is really the cultural center of America. Home to incredible food, shopping, nightlife and powerbrokers, New York City truly has it all.
New York City is broken into five different boroughs: Manhattan, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. For most visitors, Manhattan will be the main focus of the trip as it is home to many of New York’s most popular sites.
New York City is serviced by three main airports, LaGuardia Airport and JFK International Airport in New York City and Liberty International Airport in nearby New Jersey. The city has an excellent mass transit system called the MTA as well as service from Amtrak rail.
Lights on Broadway
New York City is known for many things, but one of the biggest has to be the performing arts. With the many musical, theatre and comedy acts in New York, it is easy to spend an entire vacation seeing a new show every single night. For the some of the most popular shows, head to Broadway and enjoy some of the traditional theatre there.
In addition to theatre, New York City thriving dance and music scene as well. Go to Lincoln Center to enjoy performances by the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet and the New York Philharmonic. For dance, the world famous Alvin Ailey American Dance Studio performs in the area as well.
Food and Recreation
New York City is also home a ton of amazing restaurants that will fit all tastes and budgets. From the luxury five star dining options of Per Se and Eleven Madison Park to favorite food stalls and the famous New York City hot dog, there are plenty of different options to try and explore.
There is also quite a bit of recreation options available in the city as well. Head to Central Park to take in some of the most incredible green spaces found in any city, from horse riding trails to flag football games it can all be found there. Another favorite, Bryant Park features free movie nights during the summer, and offers ice skating all winter long.
