The Locanda di San Martino lies in the heart of Matera’s“Sassi” Historical District, and at the same time it isconveniently located at a very short distance (100 mt)from the city center.The Locanda radiates outward from the deconsecratedchurch of San Martino and the street of the same name,through a series of balconies that enjoy a sunny expositionand a wonderful view of the Sasso Barisano.
There are 32 guest rooms situated on four levels, renovatedwith the greatest care in order to respect their originalforms as single homes.Guests will be able to savor the experience of staying incave dwellings of the very same type as those which havebeen inhabited here for thousands of years; these, however,have been adapted to the comforts of modern living. Allrooms are equipped with private bath, air conditioning,satellite television and high speed internet connection.
The rooms, common areas and levels are connected bypassages cut into the rock, external stairways and anelevator which connects the lower three levels.The Locanda features a conference room, a bar, a breakfastroom and reading room.
