Hotel Scholz is run by the family of Helga Scholz in the third generation. It is the oldest family-run hotel in Koblenz. It is located in the Rauental quarter, directly bordering the Moselweiss quarter.
The hotel offers 67 rooms, including 14 single rooms, 50 double or twin bedrooms and 3 triple rooms. All of them come with a shower, WC, WLAN Internet connection, telephone and TV. Non-smoking rooms are available on request.
Let us spoil you with sophisticated dishes and drinks in our cosy restaurant. You can let the day fade away in our rustic bar in the company of friends.
A cosy atmosphere, personal service, comfortably equipped rooms, our restaurant with its German cuisine, a lift and numerous parking spaces are the reasons why you should come and feel comfortable at our hotel.

Good clean hotel. Good restaurant and breakfest. Important sights are within walking distance (15-30 minutes).
Location takes a while to get used to. But once you identify all the important sights, you realise that they are within about 15 minutes walk. The rail station is about 45 minutes walk but is manageable by foot or bus.

The hotel was easy to find on a main road with free parking in the rear. We had 3 adults and was provided a triple room on the top floor. The staff was pleasant and spoke some English. Breakfast was included and was very good; something for every taste.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in the process of refurbishment. Our room was dated, but clean and roomy. Very well located to explore the Mosel valley, and we found it fairly easy to access the Rhine valley.
There is a church/convent across the road - the bells can be useful if you want early alarm calls - but I don't think they sounded before 06.00. The hotel is a good 25 min walk along a fairly busy road and via a subway before you get to the town centre.

The staff is indeed extremely friendly and helpful. A definite plus.
I had a double room for single use and it was tiny. There were shelves and a sort of 12" wide open hanging arrangement for clothes but no closet. Works for passing thru but not if you want to unpack suitacase and hang up all your clothes. Furnishing kept to bare minimum.
No mini-bar or fridge. No hairdryer in room (but available upon request at the desk).
Less choice and variety for breakfast as in other hotels of same category I stayed at.

location is probably correct in terms of distance to city centre but walking back late at night was not comfortable as it involved subways under a large junction. Rooms noisy on the road side if the windows were opened but cleanliness, friendliness and catering were spot on. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.
