The Grand Hotel Europe, the first five-star hotel in the country, is a historical building, dating from 1824, and has a preserved neo-classical facade designed by the Italian architect, Rossi and original art nouveau interiors. The hotel is situated in the heart of St. Petersburg and is within walking distance of the Winter Palace Square and Hermitage Museum. It is also conveniently located next to the Russian Museum, the Philharmonic Society and the Mikhailovsky Theatre.

During the imperial age the Grand Hotel, then known as the Hotel d’Europe, was one of the premier hotels in the world, and it was with that proud heritage in mind that the renovation was so carefully handled.

A total of 301 rooms and suites opulently combine history and high style with 21st-century conveniences to ensure a memorable stay. In 2005-2010 about 260 guest rooms and suites have been completely refurbished, whilst retaining their turn of the last century decor. The rooms now confirm the spirit of a private residence, looking warm and harmoniously intimate, engulfed in the homogeneous colour palette and soft lighting. Guests may now choose among several different classes of rooms and suites.
