Filderstadt is a town in the district of Esslingen, in Baden-Württemberg. It is located approximately 13 km / 8 miles south of Stuttgart. Filderstadt was founded as late as 1975 within the scope of a municipality reform. It then already had 20,000 inhabitants and has only one year later been declared county town.

The close proximity to Stuttgart is an advantage for Filderstadt in many ways. Especially the airport of Baden-Württemberg’s capital Stuttgart only being a few kilometres/miles away enhances the development of Filderstadt.
