Country Hotel Borromeo

We had to call a shuttle for pick-up at the airport, and did not expect the hotel to be so far from the airport. It was a good 10 minute drive. The bathroom appliances were completely outdated, as was the toilet. In addition, someone had turned off the hot water, and we had to call maintenance to fix the problem. The hotel restaurant had a very limited menu, which was extremely overpriced. The receptionist told us that we could walk (200m) to another restaurant. We started our walk, but turned around after 5 minutes, since it appeared impossible to cross the busy street and rotary. The receptionist sent us back out (in the rain), persisting that there was a sidewalk after crossing the road at the rotary. This was not a good suggestion! We made a second attempt, but had to turn around again, and had no choice but to eat at the hotel restaurant. The cheapest dinner was spaghetti with tomato sauce for 10 Euros, and the quality was poor. The menu states that if "fresh foods are not available, frozen foods will be used". My recommendation: If you go with this hotel, eat dinner before you get there!

Very thin walls, could hear TV's from neighbouring rooms until 1am. Breakfast ok but not a big selection for a 4* hotel, also they are slow at re-stocking it
